You have to somewhat assume the new guy is a plant to get the rest of you thrown in jail.
“It’s too much risk...” You tell them. “Chris is right on this, who knows who else looks at this code.”
“Your loss.” The new guy responds. “I’m no plant if you’re thinking that.”
You finish programming the code for the bots to respond to threats. Chris hooks up a cable to two robots that were rolled in by another set of guys.
“Good to go...” he says.
By now it’s lunchtime. Like every day, it’s been a busy day with tons of decisions you had to make in order to avoid getting arrested. Times you wish it would just end. The words of the new guy echo in your head about what else is going on outside the country.
With the way the country is going, you wonder how long it will sustain itself. Nothing new is researched in the country, all of it being overseas. The country is accruing massive amounts of debt because proper spending was thrown out the window. The ultra-rich picked up and went to other countries and moved their money out long before the 100% tax over 200k was instituted or when repatriations began to give to minority groups, as they saw the writing on the wall.
The only good thing is certain things that shouldn’t be excessively expensive are either cheap or free, covered by taxes. The only downside is anything you make, all of it is taken away from you with only a small allowance to get you by if by any chance your wife finds you useless and kicks you out of the marriage. You hope that eventually happens, but you assume that she enjoys the extra money every month.
You look at your phone as you walk over to the cafeteria to see what money you have. With what you make weekly, 30% gets taken out as a “privilege tax”, 20% gets taken out as a reparations fee because you’re white, and 40% is taken by your wife before it makes it to your bank account. With the remaining 10% you have left, you are taxed at 50%. It’s kind of amazing how you are able to make ends meet with that little money. You kinda regret giving that $500 to your son earlier today as that would have been enough to feed you for the rest of the week. You go to an ATM to take out some more money. After inserting your phone into a tray, a $500 card pops out. You side it into the back case of your phone so you can tap the cash register and pay for it. You have only $250 left in that bank account to last you the week, just enough probably to pay for some groceries for dinner and breakfast.
